Simply Sustain has more than 20 years’ building industry experience throughout Central Florida. Our building energy professionals are experts in residential and commercial building inspection and home energy conservation. And they’re tested by the nation's leading building science, auditing and green building programs. We are qualified.
We are a HERS (Home Energy Rating System) Rater.
A RESNET-certified auditor, or HERS Rater, has passed a two-hour, 50-question written exam with a score of 80% or better. RESNET qualified auditors have performed two ratings supervised by a RESNET training provider, and three more "probationary" ratings within 1 year of passing the written exam. ALL ratings done by a HERS Rater are submitted to a RESNET affiliate for quality control and approval. According to RESNET's National Energy Audit Standard (PDF), in addition to evaluating a home's energy consumption, an auditor should inspect—and, if a health hazard is detected, repair— combustion appliances. A HERS Rater is trained to do both home energy audits (useful for existing homes) and home energy ratings (more helpful for new homes).
We are a LEED AP.
Leadership and Energy in Environmental Design (LEED) is a national organization that's part of the U.S. Green Building Council. To become an Associate Professional (AP), building pros must pass a rigorous 100-question test to qualify as an expert in green building techniques, generally applied to commercial design and construction. LEED AP is now known as LEED BD+C (Building Design and Construction).
We are an Energy Star Partner.
Home Performance with Energy Star is a subsidiary of the EPA's Energy Star program. The Home Performance Program is focused exclusively on upgrading the energy efficiency of existing homes. The program operates through a system of regional partners, all of whom must hold a certification from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). Energy Star Homes (which is a label for new buildings), is a separate certification of energy efficient standards met during construction. Simply Sustain Energy does both, and we’re proud to partner with Energy Star.
Simply Sustain is accredited by BPI. (Coming Soon)
As certified Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analysts, we have had training in BPI's rigorous house-as-a-system approach and kept conscientiously up-to-date on certification (BPI requires Building Analysts to be re-certified every three years). We are certified to conduct blower-door tests, combustion appliance inspection and repair, air quality testing including carbon monoxide detection, duct testing and airflow testing in addition to our other inspection and engineering services. For more information about BPI's standards, take a look at their Technical Standards for Building Analysts (PDF). All of our energy audits are done by BPI-certified building analysts, and our contracting work reflects the latest knowledge and advances in building science.
